Basic knowledge about aviation plug
Aviation plug is a kind of connector, which originated from the military industry, hence the name, abbreviated as aviation plug. Aviation plugs, which are mainly circular, can also be called circular connectors, and more specifically are cylindrical pin electrical connectors. The English name is Circular Connector. General aviation plugs contain contacts for transmitting data and power. The name of the aviation plug comes from the military aircraft manufacturing industry in the 1930s. The current application areas of aviation plugs are not only in military equipment and manufacturing but also in medical equipment, automation, railway transportation, and other operating environments where reliability is critical.
Aviation plugs are electromechanical components that connect electrical circuits, so their own electrical parameters are the first consideration when choosing aviation plugs. The correct selection and use of aviation plugs are important aspects of ensuring circuit reliability.
Method of choosing:
Aviation plugs can also be called plug sockets, which are widely used in various electrical circuits to connect or disconnect
The role of an open circuit. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to improve the reliability of aviation plugs. However, due to the wide variety of aviation plugs and a wide range of applications, the correct choice of aviation plugs is also an important aspect of improving the reliability of aviation plugs. Only through the joint efforts of the manufacturer and the user can the aviation plug function to the fullest extent possible.
There are different classification methods for aviation plugs. According to the frequency, there are high-frequency aviation plugs and low-frequency aviation plugs; according to the shape, there are circular connectors, which are divided into aviation plugs for cabinets, aviation plugs for audio equipment, power aviation plugs, special-purpose aviation plugs, and so on.
Connection method:
Aviation plugs are generally composed of plugs and sockets, among which plugs are also called free-end aviation plugs, and sockets are also called fixed aviation plugs. The connection and disconnection of the circuit are realized through the plug, the socket, and the insertion and separation, so various connection modes of the plug and the socket are produced. For circular aviation plugs, there are three main ways: threaded connection, bayonet connection, and marble connection. Among them, the threaded connection is the most common. It has the advantages of simple processing technology, low manufacturing cost, and wide application range, but the slow connection speed is not suitable for occasions that require frequent plugging and rapid connection. The bayonet type connection has a relatively fast connection speed due to the long lead of the three bayonet grooves, but it is more complicated to manufacture and the cost is higher. The pinball connection is the fastest of the three connection methods. It does not need to be rotated but only needs to be linearly moved to achieve the functions of connection, separation, and locking. Because it belongs to a direct push-pull connection, it is only suitable for aviation plugs with a small total separation force. Generally, it is more common in small aviation plugs.
